Lewistown man accused of attacking another resident
JUNIATA TERRACE — Police have accused a Lewistown man of entering a Juniata Terrace home Tuesday evening and assaulting the man who lives there, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed Wednesday.
Police said 31-year-old Eric Douglas McGinn, of Lewistown, entered a home on Terrace Boulevard Tuesday evening, went to the second floor of the residence and began assaulting the male resident. The male resident told police he was knocked to the ground and then McGinn got on top of him and continued to strike him. The male resident said he was unsure if McGinn was using his fist or some type of weapon in the altercation, according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, the investigating trooper reported the male resident’s right eye was swollen shut and bruised.
A female who was also there at the time told police she had tried to pull McMinn off the male resident, but that McMinn shoved her away multiple times before fleeing the home.
Police said during the altercation, one of McMinn’s shoes fell off and was collected as evidence. He was later arrested.
McMinn has been charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of criminal trespass, two counts of harassment, one count of burglary and one count of simple assault.
McMinn is currently incarcerated in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post the $75,000 bail set.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 22 in Mifflin County Central Court before Magisterial District Judge Jack E. Miller.
