LEWISTOWN — The Derry Township Board of Supervisors accepted a $526,620.57 bid on Monday for construction from Jay Fulkroad & Sons to replace the deficient Nolan Drive Bridge, which provides access to two local businesses.
According to the Township Manager Kelly Shutes, the Nolan Drive Bridge was placed under a weight restriction a few years ago due to its deteriorating condition.
Shutes added that the township procured funds from SEDA-COG and Mifflin County to pay for the replacement. Chairman Ronald Napikoski Jr. suggested that supervisors schedule a preconstruction meeting with representatives of Wray’s Landscaping as well as Parson’s Towing and Rollback Service.
In other news, supervisors approved a change order for phase one of the Yeagertown road reconstruction project. The change order includes a decreased amount of $9,326.20 leaving the Township to pay $77,224.88.
Once approved, Carol Kearney-High, Community Development Block Grant administrator, will take the change order to the Mifflin County Commissioners for final approval.
The total construction cost was $332,355.80, which is $9,326.20 less than the Grannas Brothers construction contract.
The total cost for phase one of the project that is covered by CDBG funding from 2022, 2023, and 2024 allocations is $225,130.92.
Supervisors agreed to pay the remaining balance due of $77,224.88.
This will be the first and only payment for phase one of the Yeagertown road reconstruction project.
