Carnival committee expresses gratitude

To the editor: The Fayette Community Carnival Committee expresses gratitude to the following: First, we thank our Heavenly Father for blessing us with beautiful weather throughout the carnival week and on parade day; the McAlisterville Ministerium for sponsoring the community praise and worship service and ice cream social and our area churches for providing home cooked meals to the Bartlebaugh Amusement workers throughout the week. Climate change is real

To the editor: We may not see signs of climate change in our local area, but this does not mean it’s not happening. The Associate Press describes it as a “summer of whiplash.” In Kentucky, after an unusual dry period, “the rain poured in Biblical proportions.” The Dallas region now stuck in a drought labeled “extreme and exceptional” saw a one-in-1,000-year rain event. In fact, there have been six such rain-events within a 30-day period in the United States, according to Fox Weather. Swine Club appreciates consortium support

To the editor: The Mifflin County 4-H Swine Club would like to acknowledge and thank the newly formed hog sale consortium for purchasing our club pig at the Mifflin Co. Youth Fair Sale. The club pig is our fund raising project that supports our club activities throughout the year. Club pig money will support member activities including the 2022 first annual buyer recognition and member awards banquet. Can’t support college loan payoff

To the editor: I disagree with Biden’s giving anyone $10,000 toward their college debt, especially then he wants to put me and others like me on the hook for the bill. I will explain why I feel this way. First of all, in my entire life, and I have been walking God’s earth for over 76 years, I have never left a bill or a loan that I did not pay off entirely. The Government never made my payments for me with the exception of about three months’ worth of a correspondence course in electronics, paid for by the GI Bill. Only one place to find the real truth

To the editor: When I think about what I hear is going on in the world and in our nation I have to wonder where is the stability in any actions taken and words spoken. The Left is saying one thing and the Right is saying another. This news reporter is claiming one thing and another is reporting something completely different about the same situation. There is no continuity in what is coming forth from our government. We have heard of food shortages, blackouts, nuclear attacks and much more. Electing Democrats will mean more crime

To the editor: It seems like every time I turn on the news or I look at social media, stories of crime are becoming more frequent. I recently saw burglaries were up 19% in Atlanta. Birmingham, Alabama, has a murder rate of 29.1 per capita, and New Orleans is on pace to hit 300 murders this year. Meanwhile, on the West Coast, I read that two men who were arrested for possessing 150,000 fentanyl pills, enough to kill millions of people, then were released days later. With crime on the rise everywhere, it makes me wonder where the beginning of a solution can be found. But I do know ...
