BRANSON, Mo. — Even the whole continent of Europe couldn’t stop Mifflin County on Saturday. Mifflin County came from behind to down Europe, 11-7, in the semifinal game of the Babe Ruth 15-16-year-old World Series. Mifflin County finished with a 6-1 record and was second in the United States and was third in the international play. Mifflin County trailed 7-5 going into the top of the seventh. Huskies open season at Iron Valley

LEBANON — Mifflin County golf opened the fall season Thursday with a Mid-Penn Keystone match at Iron Valley, the home of Palmyra. The Huskies were 1-6 on the day. The Huskies lost to Palmyra, Mechanicsburg, Red Land, Cedar Cliff, and Bishop McDevitt. The purple and white defeated Milton Hershey. The Huskies were led by Evan Breon, who shot 82, which was good for a tie for sixth place overall. Caleb Bubb shot 89, Chase Krepps added a 97 and Raul Rodriguez tallied a 108. The Huskies are back in action Monday when they visit Colonial Golf & Tennis Club.

RubberDucks edge Curve, 4-2

CURVE, Pa. – Altoona dropped a third straight game to the Akron RubberDucks, 4-2, on Thursday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Nick Dombkowski made his third start of the season for Altoona and was dominant in the first three innings before allowing two runs on three hits and a walk in the fourth. Va. – Camden Ross extended his on-base streak to 25 games and Justin Journette delivered a laser shot to left field for his seventh homer of the year, but the State College Spikes saw their 6-0 lead dwindle until Zack Thompson hit a walk-off grand slam to give the West Virginia Black Bears a 10-8 win on Thursday night at Kendrick Family Ballpark.
