Branson, MO -- All streaks must come to an end sometime. The Mifflin County Babe Ruth

15-16-year-old All-Stars had won seven in a row coming into the National championship game with Eagle Pass, Texas.

But, unfortunately for Mifflin County things just didn't go their way as Eagle Pass won the

national title, 8-7.

Mifflin County will close out the tournament today at noon against Europe for third or fourth

place in the international part of the World Series.

Mifflin County now has won one national title (2016, 13-year-olds) and now has three

national runners-up to their credit.

“We hit the ball today," said a disappointed Denny Yetter, the

Mifflin County manager. "We made too many mistakes in the field and on the base paths."

"I'm proud of the team, they gave it all they had. We fought to the

end and never gave up."

Mifflin County trailed 8-5 going into the bottom of the seventh. Mifflin County opened the last

inning by getting three straight hits from Colton Aumiller, Liam Shaffer

and Luke Shawver. Shawver's hit drove in one run and Caden McClure's fielder's choice drove in

another run.

Mifflin County ended up with runners on third and first before Cam Kauffman flew out to left field

to end the game.

Eagle Pass had two big innings, scoring three runs in the third and four in the fourth. As it

turned out Eagle Pass scored a single run in the fifth, which turned

out to be the winning one.

Mifflin County scored a run in the first inning and added another run in the second. And after three innings, Mifflin County was ahead, 4-3.

But, in the middle innings, Mifflin County only scored one run

(in the fifth) as Eagle Pass took control of the game.

Shawver and Jude Zook each had three hits and Shaffer and Maverick Smith each had two. Zook had an RBI double in the fifth.

Kooper Walters, Jett Powell, Haven Bridge and Aumiller each

had one hit.

Shaffer started on the mound and pitched into the fourth. In his first two innings, he didn't allow a

run. Aumiller finished and only gave up one run (in the fifth) and

four hits.

Max Trawitz, the Mifflin County second baseman, was injured late in the game.
