Huskies win third in a row
MECHANICSBURG –Mifflin County extended its winning streak to three games, as the Huskies went on the road and conquered Mechanicsburg on Tuesday in boys basketball, 71-55.
It was an offensive explosion for the Huskies, and they used a 24-point fourth quarter to propel them to the win.
Junior Jack Curry led the way with 21 points, as he surpassed 700 career points.
Fellow juniors Luke Bender and Zach Keller were also strong scorers. Bender scored 18 on the night, with Keller adding 15.
Bryce Hartsock was the Dawg of the Game, being a strong presence down low and controlling the glass.
With the win, the Huskies move to 9-10 on the year, and look to keep their momentum going as they welcome Palmyra to the Dawg Pound tonight. JV’s tip is at 5:30 with varsity to follow.
The JV Huskies fell to Mechanicsburg, 46-36.
Sophomore Dylan Bonson led the way with 20 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Wildcats bulldoze past Huskies, 71-29
MECHANICSBURG — Mechanicsburg stumped Mifflin County on Tuesday evening, 71-29.
Payton Weaver had 11 points for the Lady Huskies.
In JV action, the Wildcats held off the Huskies, 44-37.
Madison Peachey tallied 13 points in the road contest.
Indians tame Wildcats, 42-27
MILLERSTOWN — Juniata girls hoops sank Greenwood on Tuesday, 42-27.
For the Indians, Mylee Landis collected 15 points and Lindsea Gilson had 10.
Gabby Reed chimed in with eight Juniata points.
Juniata outscored the home squad, 20-10, in the final half.
For Greenwood, Georjean Rickard had eight points and Sylvia Gantt added seven.
WolfPack claws Tigers, 77-27
BOALSBURG — St. Joe’s girls basketball got 26 points from Naomi Crispin and the home team beat East Juniata on Tuesday, 77-27.
For the WolfPack, Jacee Cunningham had 13 points and Lauren Himes added 14.
For the Tigers, Landyn Cramer posted 12 points and Kennedy Seigler-Lewis added six points.
FRESHMEN BASKETBALL
Mifflin County girls freshmen hoops team topped Mechanicsburg, 39-12, on Tuesday night.
Jemma Kanagy had 15 points for the Huskies and Bella Yoder had 10.
The Huskies are now 18-0 and play Friday at Carlisle.
