LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County squared off with State College during Wednesday’s Mid-Penn wrestling action.

Early on, the Huskies kept the match close, but State would take the 49-18 victory.

“They’re a good team. It was good to keep wrestling top programs,” said Mifflin County coach Kirby Martin. “It should make us tougher.”

Mifflin County started strong at 107 pounds as Ethan Johnson was able to get Camden Fletcher early and wear him down before picking up the pinfall at 5:39.

State College tied things at six at 114. Noah Young notched an early pin over Colton Leister at 2:00.

The Little Lions picked up a very close decision at 121. Luke Young started quickly as he built an 8-1 lead over Andrew Alexander. But Alexander rallied back late in the third period, but ran out of time as he fell short of the mark, falling 8-5.

127-pounder Kael Davis picked up a quick pinfall over Huskies’ Reece Fisher at 40 seconds.

The upset of the night came at 133 for the Huskies. Mifflin County young gun Bentley Felmlee picked up a first-period takedown and was able to hold onto State College veteran Jon Whitbred for a 3-1 win.

At 139, Jake Knable made it two in a row for the Huskies by taking the 5-0 win over Mason Sanderson.

Mifflin County scored its last win at 145. Paxton Shawver was able to pick up the six points for his team as he won by pinfall over Grant Waltz at 2:57.

State College started to march back, starting at 152. Nico Diaz was able to take home a late pinfall win over Tyler Williams at 4:53.

At 160, James Whitbred’s moves were fast and furious as he built enough to take down and get back points to secure the tech fall win over Brian Albert, 20-5, at 3:23.

State College Teag Sanderson took care of the 172-pound weight class as he picked up a 21-5 tech fall win over Brayan Aurand at 2:35.

At 189, State College won again as Noah Williams pinned Dodger Weaver at 3:44.

Things continued to roll for the Little Lions at 215. Rhys Mitchell helped his team earn more bonus points with a pinfall over Adrian Griffith at 2:28.

Rounding out the night at 285 was State’s Matthew Gaul, who notched a pin over Dekker Pietzsch at 3:24.
