Huskies split with Trojans

On Monday, the Mifflin County Junior High boys basketball team returned to action after the holiday break.

The Huskies walked away with one win and one loss against the Trojans from Hershey.

The seventh-grade Huskies resumed their winning ways by collecting their third straight win by a score of 33-23. MC held a seven-point lead at halftime and never looked back, expanding the lead to as many as 13 in the third quarter. Balanced scoring once again was the recipe for success as the Huskies had nine players in the scoring column. Caleb Peachey led the way with seven points and Zach Smith was right behind him with six.

The eighth-grade Huskies lost their game by a 35-18 score. The Huskies fell behind big early to a strong Hershey team but fought to the final buzzer despite a considerable size disadvantage. The Huskies were down 21 at the half but came back to win the second half of the game with some good individual efforts. Zach Smith led the scoring for the eighth graders by scoring five points while Bronn Zook added four.

The Huskies return to action with back-to-back away games tomorrow and Thursday against Palmyra and Mt. Nittany.
