Williams Grove season finally underway
MECHANICSBURG – After three cancellations, Williams Grove Speedway
finally got their 2025 season underway on Friday night.
The Grove had three races on their schedule in March, but all were
lost due to inclement weather.
Unfortunately, weather became a factor Friday night as well. A rain
shower hit the track after the heat races were completed. The track
crew was attempting to get the track back into racing condition after
the shower passed.
Anthony Macri has the fastest time in sprint car hot laps at 16.328.
Troy Wagaman Jr., Danny Dietrich, Lucas Wolfe and Chase Dietz were the
top five fastest drivers in hot laps.
A total of 29 cars were in the 410 sprint car pit area.
Ryan Taylor won the opening heat race. Chase Dietz, Jeff Halligan,
Doug Hammaker and Bill Dietrich completed the top five.
Cameron Smith won the second heat race. Anthony Macri, Lance Dewease,
Brock Zearfoss and JT Ferry.
Matt Campbell won the final heat race. Troy Wagaman Jr., Danny
Dietrich, TJ Stutts and Steve Buckwalter.
The top four finishers from each heat race redrew pills for the top 12
feature starting positions. The 25-lap feature paid $5,500 to win.
Heat races for the 28 cars in the 358 sprint division were won by Andy
Best, Jacob Galloway and Jude Siegel.
Unfortunately, a rain shower hit the speedway as the cars were heading
to the track for the 410 sprint car consolation.
Port Royal’s Dylan Cisney was once again behind the wheel of the Indy
Race Parts No. 71. He was scheduled to run the consolation race.
Port Royal Speedway hopes to beat the weather tonight. The sprint
cars, 305 sprint cars and limited late models are on the schedule with
a 6 o’clock start time. Pit gates open at 3 and general admission
gates at 4.
Macri won the Port Royal opener two weeks ago, and Ryan Smith won last
Saturday’s race.
Williams Grove returns to action next Friday night featuring the 410
sprint cars with a 7:30 start time.
