LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County boys soccer was hoping to start their season off with a win against West Perry on Thursday, but the Mustangs took the reins and walked away with the 3-1 win.
Dreyson Weaver was the lone Husky to score during the matchup in the second quarter.
The Huskies came out with a solid defense and the Mustangs matched that early on. “I’d like to say to all our defense; we’re playing a new defensive system this year,” explained Huskies head coach Keith Yoder. “We’re playing a flat four in the back and they all played well and communicated together.”
“All in all, I’m pretty pleased with the way we played today. West Perry always has a quality side. They know how to play soccer, they’re skilled,” Yoder added. “A couple things that I would like to see us work on is transitioning from winning a ball on defense into more of an attack. We sometimes settled today.”
Huskies (0-1) will hit the road to Williamsport on Saturday.
