Sanctification is growth and awakening To the Editor: We are told in the 2 Timothy 2:22 that we are “sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use”. So, what does it mean to be sanctified? Sanctification is the continuation of that which begun at regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Jn,3:5-8) and by the effectual call of the gospel. Regeneration is the renewing of our whole nature. The calling of the gospel becomes effectual when that new nature consciously responds to the gospel by repentance and faith. Reader wonders, ‘Will we survive?’ Page seven of the Nov. 21 edition of the Sentinel under the heading “Today in History” was a bit about the U.S. population In 1967 the U.S. population passed 200,000,000 people. I checked with the census bureau and today the U.S. population is 335,747,738 and growing! That is an increase of 135,747,738 people in 56 years! Future of humankind is in dire straits To the Editor: Unfortunately, humankind seems to be stuck in a state of permanent developmental arrest reminiscent of a group of 2- to 3-year-olds bickering over the most prized objects in a sandbox. Among these prized possessions may be land, water, timber, fossil fuels, mineral ores, rare earth metals, even cheap or slave labor. Church authority is scriptural, legitimate To the Editor: In answer to Rev. Dr. James Barnes article, Nov. 4-5, let it be said that the authority to definitively interpret the Bible is not a solo effort of the preacher in the pulpit, nor of the individual reader in his study or living room. Anti-semitism is not the answer to stopping Hamas To the Editor: I am totally perplexed. How is it that innocent people, in the comfort of their homes and in the company of their families were attacked, murdered and butchered yet somehow, they are labeled with disdain. I can only assume some have been educated to be ignorant.
