Sanctification is growth and awakening To the Editor: We are told in the 2 Timothy 2:22 that we are “sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use”. So, what does it mean to be sanctified? Sanctification is the continuation of that which begun at regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Jn,3:5-8) and by the effectual call of the gospel. Regeneration is the renewing of our whole nature. The calling of the gospel becomes effectual when that new nature consciously responds to the gospel by repentance and faith.
