Edward R. ‘Dusty’ Rhodes Jr.

Edward R. “Dusty” Rhodes Jr., 97, formerly of Lewistown, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at Valley View Haven.

Born Aug. 29, 1928, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Edward R. Rhodes Sr. and Georgiana (Shibley) Rhodes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Wise and Shibley Cahill.

Dusty is survived by his children Robin Rhodes, of Dallas, TX and Scott T. Rhodes and wife, Susan, of Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren Allison Rhodes, of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Eric Rhodes, of Lewistown; niece, Georgeann McMullen, of Belleville and nephew, Richard Wise, of Belleville as well as his dear friend Margaret Herto of Reedsville.

He was a proud graduate of Belleville High School class of 1947 and graduated from Susquehanna University in 1957 with a B.S. in Business Administration.

Dusty served in the U.S. Army occupation forces in Japan and later in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He owned and operated Rhodes Oil Company as well as R & S Bus Company.

In addition to his professional and military accomplishments, Dusty was deeply committed to civic engagement and youth development. He was a member of the Juniata Valley Boy Scout Association and was a past president of the Shawnee District. He received the Silver Beaver Award in 1984 and the Good Scout Award in 1985. Dusty also served on boards of the Juniata Valley Bank and the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation.

The family would like to thank the staff at Valley View for the exceptional care he received during the last three years.

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
