From staff reports HARRISBURG — A series of hearings held by the Pennsylvania House Republican Policy Committee highlighted concerns about housing affordability, workforce housing shortages and barriers to homeownership across the state. Directors discuss financial projections

LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County School District Board of Directors discussed projections for the district’s finances at their Thursday meeting. Treasurer Melinda Kenepp led the discussion and noted that directors requested financial projections to plan ahead. “We do have a projection platform that we use every month. I take the district’s actual financials, I dump them into a platform, and we look at where we think we’re going to wind up for the current year,” Kenepp said. Mifflintown man escaped house fire

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata County 911 dispatched Mifflintown Hose Co. Sunday at 1:27 a.m. for a residential building fire at 1683 William Penn Highway. According to Mifflintown Assistant Chief Steven Groninger, he was advised upon response that the fire was reported as at least two to three vehicles or structures as multiple calls came in with conflicting information. Upon Groninger’s arrival he reported two campers were fully engulfed with extension into a garage and possibly a mobile home.
