Methamphetamine seized, arrest made LEWISTOWN – Rodney L. Frymyer Jr., 30, address unknown, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after Lewistown Police Department officers recovered a backpack he allegedly abandoned while entering a residence at 3:13 p.m. on July 2, according to a release issued on Thursday. A search warrant led to the seizure of 19 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and personal identification. Frymyer was jailed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown and faces a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. ...

State police report increase in firearm purchase denials

HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania State Police reported an increase in firearm purchase denials during the second quarter of 2026, despite a relatively unchanged number of background checks compared with the same period last year. According to the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS), 239,047 background checks were conducted during the second quarter of 2026, up slightly from 238,003 during the same period in 2025.
