Methamphetamine seized, arrest made
LEWISTOWN – Rodney L. Frymyer Jr., 30, address unknown, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after Lewistown Police Department officers recovered a backpack he allegedly abandoned while entering a residence at 3:13 p.m. on July 2, according to a release issued on Thursday. A search warrant led to the seizure of 19 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and personal identification. Frymyer was jailed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown and faces a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
Handgun recovered after street fight
LEWISTOWN – Lewistown Police Department officers responded to a fight on Valley Street in Lewistown involving two men and a handgun at 8:59 p.m. on July 5, according to a release issued on Thursday. Rylan J. Murphy, 23, of Granville Township, was arrested after attempting to flee and was found to be prohibited from possessing firearms. Naimen C. Garrett, 19, of New Market, Va., also was charged in connection with the altercation. The handgun was recovered after being thrown through a resident’s window. Murphy was lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on his warrants and additionally charged with possession of firearm prohibited, flight to avoid apprehension, evading arrest or detention on foot, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. Garrett was lodged in the jail due to the domestic nature of the incident and he was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Loose dog on South Main Street, Lewistown, eludes capture
LEWISTOWN – At 9:14 a.m. on July 7, Lewistown Police Department officers attempted to catch a loose dog on South Main Street in Lewistown, according to a release issued on Thursday. The animal ran into a wooded area and could not be captured.
Black bear spotted through Lewistown, Granville
LEWISTOWN – A black bear was seen running through Lewistown and Granville Township LEWISTOWN -, crossing several streets and causing minor property damage before entering a wooded area.
Woman arrested on drug, warrant charges
LEWISTOWN – Katarina A. Warner, 33, address unknown, was arrested after allegedly providing false information to the Lewistown Police Department and attempting to flee at 12:33 p.m. on July 8, according to a release on Thursday. Officers said she was in possession of methamphetamine, hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia. She was jailed on an active warrant and faces multiple charges.
Animal cruelty investigation underway
LEWISTOWN – Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched at 1:54 p.m. on July 8 to a condemned Montgomery Avenue residence in Lewistown for an animal abuse investigation, according to a release issued on Thursday. A local rescue took custody of the animals and an animal cruelty investigation remains ongoing.
