Deer causes Walker Township crash MIFFLINTOWN — An 18-year-old Port Royal woman escaped injury after her vehicle struck a deer and two utility poles early Sunday morning, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown. Police said Ariana E. Wyland was traveling on William Penn Highway in Walker Township at about 12:33 a.m. Sept. 20 when a deer entered the roadway. Wyland swerved to avoid the deer but struck it before her 2009 Nissan Versa left the roadway and struck two utility poles and a PennDOT road sign. LEWISTOWN — The Derry Township Board of Supervisors met Monday and set the township’s trick-or-treat night for 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Residents who want to participate will turn on their porch lights at 6 p.m. and welcome trick-or-treaters. During the board meeting, Derry Township supervisors also approved a subdivision plan from Bill Wright of Wright Surveying to split a parcel into two lots for home construction. BEDFORD -- A Virginia homicide suspect was arrested after a pursuit and "high-risk" traffic stop Tuesday afternoon on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bedford County. State police on Tuesday received an alert that Roger Paul Allen Bradford, 60, was wanted in Virginia in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife that occurred earlier that day.
