Deer causes Walker Township crash
MIFFLINTOWN -- An 18-year-old Port Royal woman escaped injury after her vehicle struck a deer and two utility poles early Sunday morning, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown.
Police said Ariana E. Wyland was traveling on William Penn Highway in Walker Township at about 12:33 a.m. Sept. 20 when a deer entered the roadway. Wyland swerved to avoid the deer but struck it before her 2009 Nissan Versa left the roadway and struck two utility poles and a PennDOT road sign.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Police said Wyland was not wearing a seat belt and refused treatment from emergency medical personnel. She was not charged.
Mifflintown Fire Co., Port Royal EMS and Geedey's Towing assisted at the scene.
