Boalsburg woman sentenced in bankruptcy fraud case
From staff reports
WILLIAMSPORT — A former Boalsburg woman has been sentenced to federal prison for falsifying records during bankruptcy proceedings involving a Centre County bed-and-breakfast business.
The Kristina Johnson, 69, was sentenced to 15 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge Matthew W. Brann, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Federal prosecutors said Johnson and her husband, John J. Johnson II, owned the Springfield Bed & Breakfast in Boalsburg. The business filed for bankruptcy in 2022 and continued operating while the couple sought to reorganize debts through bankruptcy court proceedings.
As part of the process, the Johnsons were required to submit monthly operating reports to the bankruptcy court. Prosecutors said the reports contained false information regarding bank activity and concealed the existence of an undisclosed bank account.
Kristina Johnson pleaded guilty in November 2025 to falsification of records during a bankruptcy proceeding.
John J. Johnson II was sentenced in March 2026 to 18 months in prison.
The case was investigated by the United States Bankruptcy Trustee and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur prosecuted the case.
