Richfield church serves nostalgia with interactive dinner theater
RICHFIELD — The doors swing open, the jukebox hums and the waitstaff is already buzzing as Richfield Life Ministries brings a slice of 1950s nostalgia to life with its returning interactive dinner theater show, “Uncle Phil’s Diner.”
For four nights this week, the RLMC Family Life Center — also known as the Old Family Life Center — will be transformed into a lively diner where the audience doesn’t just watch the show but becomes part of it. The production blends classic diner food, nostalgic music and fast-paced comedy into an immersive experience designed to put guests in the middle of the action.
Unlike traditional stage productions, “Uncle Phil’s Diner” unfolds all around the room. Guests take their seats inside what is billed as the “hottest spot in town,” sharing the space with the cast and diner staff as the storyline begins. From the start, the energy is high and the line between performer and audience fades.
The plot centers on anticipation for the arrival of the night’s featured musical act, “The Desotos.” As diners enjoy their meal, excitement builds — and then unravels — when the band’s arrival is delayed. To keep the evening from stalling, PJ the DJ steps in, rallying the diner staff to keep the crowd entertained.
What follows is a fast-moving mix of comedy, nostalgic music and audience interaction. Performers weave their way through the crowd, drawing guests into a series of impromptu performances that keep the momentum rolling and the room laughing.
“This is a trip back to the beginning of our dinner theater days,” a representative said in the announcement. “We can’t wait to share this high-energy, family-friendly experience with our neighbors.”
The dinner theater reflects a commitment to community-focused entertainment and shared experiences, with the Family Life Center serving as a gathering place for events that bring people together.
“Uncle Phil’s Diner” will run today and Friday, with performances beginning at 6 p.m. Additional shows are scheduled for Saturday, and Sunday, at 5 p.m.
Tickets include both the meal and the performance. Prices are $20 for ages 12 and older, $15 for ages 5 to 11 and free admission for ages 4 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at http://bit.ly/3OmnKR8.
