Police investigating Cash App complaint about stolen money

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are waiting for additional information from a Lewistown resident in order to investigate an alleged incident of theft from their Cash App account at 5:55 p.m. on April 3, according to a release issued on Thursday. The theft occurred in October 2025, but the resident recently discovered it.

Granville Township woman cited for public drunkenness, urinating

LEWISTOWN — Mallisa R. Sullivan, 49, of Granville Township, was cited for public drunkenness as well as a borough ordinance violation of urinating on the property of another, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. At 5:59 p.m. on April 3, officers responded to the 100 block of Mill Street in Lewistown for a report of an intoxicated female who pulled her pants down in the alley and was stumbling around, the report said, and officers located Sullivan in the alley where she had urinated in her pants and there was a puddle of urine nearby on the pavement in the alley. Sullivan was highly intoxicated and was trying to walk to her residence in Granville Township, the report said, and a preliminary breath test showed her blood alcohol concentration was nearly four times the legal driving limit (Sullivan was not driving). The report said Sullivan was given a ride to her residence and released.

Dog owners cited for letting pitbulls run loose on Pannebaker Avenue

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint of two Pitbull dogs running loose on Pannebaker Avenue near South Walnut Street in Lewistown, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers cited the owners on March 29 with borough ordinance violations for failing to control their animals, the report said, and, at 1:20 p.m. on April 4, officers received photos of the dogs again running loose. The owners, who reside in the immediate area, were cited under state dog laws for failing to secure their dogs, the report said.

Lewistown woman charged with theft after reaching into customer’s purse

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint at Giant Food Store regarding a theft at 1:58 p.m. on April 4, according to a release issued on Thursday. An 82-year-old woman was standing in front of Giant watching a grandchild walk up to them. The grandchild and another subject observed Rebecca C. Thompson, 68, of Lewistown, reach into the woman’s open purse and remove a wad of cash, the report said, and Thompson then walked into the store and was confronted by the two associates of the victim. Thompson reportedly handed back a few dollars saying she found it on the ground, the report said, and officers spoke with the involved parties. The victim did not realize what was happening due to her focus being on her grandchild, the report said, and Thompson claimed that the money fell out of the victim’s purse and the Thompson tried to give it back but the victim was preoccupied on the phone. Officers requested video surveillance to determine whether Thompson should be charged with theft by unlawful taking or theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake, the report said, but the video was inconclusive. Police said Thompson is being charged with theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake.

Lewistown resident is victim of fraud with apartment rental

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a fraud complaint at 3:56 p.m. on April 4, according to a release issued on Thursday. A Lewistown resident attempted to rent an apartment in the borough that was listed as available on Facebook, the report said, and the resident paid a $300 down payment through Chime. The resident found out that the apartment was not available and currently is being leased, the report said, the subject whom the resident was communicating with demanded $82 for a refund and ceased communication when the resident said they were contacting the police.

Lewistown man jailed after altercation, facing other charges

LEWISTOWN — A 28-year-old Lewistown man was transported to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown where he was charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, resisting arrest, possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness after an altercation on the 200 block of East Third Street in Lewistown at 8:45 p.m. on April 5, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Alexander S. Platzer left a residence while highly intoxicated and officers observed a group of people yelling while trying to restrain Platzer, the report said, and a uniformed officer approached Platzer and ordered him to put his hands behind his back while reaching for an arm. Platzer pushed the officer and was taken to the ground, the report said, and Platzer attempted to wrestle the officer who delivered several strikes to Platzer. Another officer arrived and they were able to detain Platzer in handcuffs, the report said, Platzer had a bag with him. Officers searched this bag incident to arrest and located a loaded handgun in the bag, which was registered to Platzer. The report said Platzer’s concealed carry permit expired in June 2025 and his bag contained Platzer’s identification, court documents with his name and a small bag of marijuana.

Juvenile charged with simple assault after pushing 2-year-old brother

LEWISTOWN — A 13-year-old juvenile is being charged with simple assault after Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the first block of Chestnut Street in Lewistown at 11:26 a.m. on April 8 and found them out of control, according to a release issued on Thursday. The juvenile pushed their 2-year-old brother in front of caseworkers, which caused the child to have a lump on their head, the report said, and the juvenile was already under juvenile probation supervision.

McVeytown man charged with possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness

LEWISTOWN — Curtis L. Martz, 50, of McVeytown, is being charged with possession of a controlled substances and public drunkenness after Lewistown Police Department officers found him slumped over and passed out on a bench at 49 W. Market St., Lewistown, at 10:58 p.m. on April 8, according to a report issued on Thursday. Martz was very lethargic, had slurred speech and his speech was rambling unintelligible utterances, the report said, and he admitted to taking prescription medication. Martz retrieved his identification from an Altoids can which officers observed also contained a bag of methamphetamine, the report said, and Martz showed impairment when conducting field sobriety tests and was transported to an acquaintance’s residence.

Derry Township man facing charges of possession, driving under suspension

LEWISTOWN — Rodney L. Frymyer Jr., 30, of Derry Township, had charges filed against him for possession of a small amount of marijuana and driving under suspension after Lewistown Police Department officers stopped a vehicle he was traveling in at 11:55 p.m. on April 8, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers stopped the vehicle for an inoperable light, the report said, and the officers identified the driver as Frymyer, who had a suspended license. Officers were aware Frymyer recently fled from another agency on foot and was in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his previous arrest, the report said. Officers questioned Frymyer if he had anything illegal and he handed over a small bag of marijuana and confirmed that he does not have a medical marijuana card, the report said.
