Calendar

The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

Please be brief and include only basic details. If possible, provide a phone number or email address to be published with contact information.

• Mifflin County Chapter PASR luncheon meeting — noon, Thursday, May 7, Birch Hill Event Center, 1100 N. Pine St., Burnham. The Loretta Woodson Award and scholarship awards will be presented. • LHS Class of 1956 70th reunion — noon, Sunday, June 7, Birch Hill Event Center, 1100 N. Pine St., Burnham. Open drop-in visitation period 2:30 to 5 p.m. Reservation deadline May 1.

• Standard Steel melt shop retirees breakfast — 8 a.m. at Vince’s Pizza and Family Restaurant in Burnham.

• Bingo — 1 p.m., Derry Township Senior Citizen Center, 15 Mill St., Yeagertown.

• Mifflin County Veterans Organization meeting — 6 p.m., Reedsville Fire Co., 16 Firehouse Blvd., Reedsville. A representative from Encompass Health will discuss veterans issues. All veterans and spouses are welcome. Light refreshments.

Friday

• Bake sale and yard sale — 7 a.m., St. Marks Dormantown Lutheran Church. Food items available.

• Coffee with friends — 9 a.m. to noon, Lack-Tuscarora EMS, 9320 Route 75 South, East Waterford.

• Keystone State Muscle Cars cruise-in — 5 to 8 p.m., parking lot between Ollie’s and Sheetz, Burnham. Weather permitting. For more information, call (717) 513-6070.

• McCoy House — open 6 to 8 p.m., 17 N. Main St., Lewistown. New exhibits.

• Mifflin County Amish-Mennonite Historical Society business meeting — 7 p.m., Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville. Featured speaker will be Lee M. Yoder, author of “From Coffee Run to Cairo.” All are invited to attend.

Saturday

• Bake sale — 8 a.m. to noon, UMC, 6280 Rte. 522 N., McClure.

• Church yard sale — 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bannerville Church of the Brethren, 7502 Stage Rd., McClure. Free hot dogs and drinks. Church restrooms available. In connection with the local community yard sale.

• Hometown Heroes breakfast — 8 to 10 a.m., Dream Center, 201 First Ave., Burnham (former Burnham Hardware building). Military veterans, firemen, policemen, EMTs, medical field personnel, etc.

• Penn State Master Gardeners plant sale — 9 a.m. to noon, South Plaza Dr., Lewistown (next to Mifflin County Extension office).

• Graceful Soles Shoe Bank — 9 a.m. to noon, Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown. Children up to age 18 are given a free pair of shoes with verification of low income through medical assistance. Parent or guardian must accompany child.

• Bingo — Doors open at 4 p.m. Bingo starts at 5 p.m., Lewistown Elks Lodge, 229 W. 3rd St., Lewistown. Rip tickets will be sold. Short order menu available for purchase.

Sunday

• All-you-can-eat roast beef dinner — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., McClure Volunteer Fire Company, 49 W. Specht St., McClure. Adults: $16, children: $8.
