Man injured when riding mower goes over embankment

YEAGERTOWN — Rescue crews were dispatched to the 200 block of North Main Street for an unnamed person who was trapped under a riding mower.

Yeagertown Fire Department arrived just after 5 p.m., when they found the person had gone down the embankment at the edge of Kish Creek.

Yeagertown Deputy Chief Justin Fultz said firefighters descended the bank with equipment to cut a path back up over. He said they used a stokes basket and a 4-to-1 rope haul system configuration to extricate the patient up over the 100-plus foot steep embankment.

Once extricated on top of the embankment, the person was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Assisting Yeagertown at the scene were Burnham Fire Co., Reedsville Fire Co., Fame

EMS, Mifflin County Regional Police and local fire police.
