Housing authority hears personnel complaints
Committee formed to improve communication
LEWISTOWN — About a dozen tenants turned out to a special meeting of the Mifflin County Housing Authority Thursday night to discuss personnel matters.
Those in attendance expressed dissatisfaction with the Housing Authority, including its response time, parking situations, canceling services — such as exterminators and what they felt was sub-par housekeeping in common areas.
After hearing resident concerns, the board went into a two-hour executive session to discuss personnel matters.
At the conclusion of the executive session it was announced that the closed portion of the meeting was an opportunity for the board to “question the executive director about the issues raised by the concerned, both tenants, community members, landlords, and people that in general care about the Housing Authority,” the board’s solicitor said.
The Housing Authority executive director, Wendy Hinkson, was present at the meeting, but did not comment.
In an effort to improve procedures moving forward, the Board approved a motion in a 3-2 vote to form a committee that would focus on communication between the executive director and board members.
The board was composed of Micaela Mills and Melissa Stewart.
