Mifflin County Regional Police releases statistics for April 2026

LEWISTOWN — According to statistics released by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department for April 2026, officers completed 529 incident reports. Of those reports, officers investigated 12 incidents of burglary, theft and fraud; six assault; and 17 motor vehicle accidents. Officers issued 132 traffic citations,14 non-traffic non-traffic citations and 30 warnings. Additionally, officers made nine arrests for driving under the influence during this time frame.

Adult male treated for broken wrist at hospital after accident

LEWISTOWN — An unidentified adult male traveling on an electric bike was transported to the hospital by EMS where he was diagnosed with a broken wrist after a crash on West Fourth Street near State Street in Lewistown when a vehicle turned in front of him at 10:35 a.m. on May 8, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Police said the subject braked hard and lost control of his e-bike.

Area man arrested for warrant, charges filed for possession

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers observed Harold Lee Foltz, 47, of unknown address, walking on South Juniata Street near the Valero gas station in Lewistown at 10:38 p.m. on May 9, and took him into custody for a summary warrant, according to a release issued on Thursday. Foltz became belligerent yelling that someone gave him something that he had on him, police said, and officers located a bag of methamphetamine in his pants pocket. Foltz was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on his warrant and charges were filed for possession of controlled substances, the report said.

Juvenile cited for disorderly conduct after breaking items in residence

LEWISTOWN — A 15-year-old juvenile was cited for disorderly conduct after breaking items inside a residence at 3:12 p.m. on May 10, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Officers responded to the first block of West Market Street in Lewistown and observed the juvenile screaming on the streets at their guardians, the report said. Several subjects leaving a nearby movie theater were alarmed by the juvenile’s behavior, the report said.

Mapleton female arrested for active warrant at probation office

LEWISTOWN — Adriana Velazquez, 22, of Mapleton, came to the Mifflin County Probation Office and was arrested by the Lewistown Police Department for an active warrant from the Huntingdon Police Department at 10:25 a.m. on May 11, according to a release issued on Thursday. Velazquez was taken into custody and transported to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.

LPD assist probation with taking Lewistown man into custody

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the first block of Valley Street in Lewistown at 10:40 a.m. on May 11 to assist Mifflin County Probation who was out with Robert C. Guthridge Sr., 62, of Lewistown. Guthridge had an active prothonotary warrant, police said, and was taken into custody and lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.

Lewistown man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

LEWISTOWN — Veryl L. Woy III, 57, of Lewistown, was found to be in possession of a crack pipe and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia during a home check by Mifflin County Probation at a residence on the 200 block of North Grand Street in Lewistown at 11:14 a.m. on May 11, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Probation detained Woy for probation violations. LPD officers assisted with the arrest.

Police investigating stolen identity used to obtain electric services

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a complaint that a subject used another person’s identity to obtain electric services at a residence in Lewistownat 1:41 p.m. on May 11, according to a release issued on Thursday. The subject accrued an electric bill that was more than $6,000.00, police said.

New Bloomfield man charged with indirect criminal contempt, jailed

LEWISTOWN — A call originating from another jurisdiction was transferred to the Lewistown Police Department after subjects with a PFA arrived at the Mifflin County Courthouse together at 2:57 p.m. on May 11, according to a release issued on Thursday. A family member reported a female relative had a protection from abuse order issued by the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas against Charles David Benner, 57, of New Bloomfield. The female needed to go to the hospital after feeling ill and Benner agreed to drive the female to the hospital but only if she would go to the courthouse first and petition the court to withdraw the PFA, the report said. Benner drove the female to the courthouse and staff refused to withdraw the PFA, and Benner then dropped the female off at the hospital and drove to the Weis Market parking lot in Burnham where he waited for the female to be discharged, the report said. Officers obtained a statement from the female and then located Benner in the Weis Market parking lot and Benner admitted to driving the female to the hospital, the report said. Benner was charged with indirect criminal contempt and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown, the report said.

Granville Township man charged with possession of marijuana

LEWISTOWN — A 32-year-old Granville Township man was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana after an incident where he was allegedly breaking into someone’s vehicle at 11:40 p.m. on May 11 on the 200 block of South Main Street in Lewistown, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Officers located Thomas E. Grose II in the area and confirmed that he had permission to retrieve personal belongings from within the vehicle, the report said, but officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from Grose and saw a partial piece of marijuana packaging in his pocket. Grose was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana that had a label with someone else’s name on it and was charged, the report said.

Yeagertown cited for trespassing inside condemned building

LEWISTOWN — Alan G. Bedlyon, 45, of Yeagertown was cited for trespassing inside a condemned building on the 200 block of East Third Street in Lewistown at 12:14 a.m. on May 12, according to a release issued on Thursday.

Lewistown woman flees, hands drugs to man; both charged with possession

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County Probation reported a 20-year-old female from Lewistown was running from them near the Major League at 12:20 p.m. on May 12, according to a release from the Lewistown Police Deparment on Thursday. Officers responded and probation officers had Bryawna N. Wagner detained, the report said, and probation reported that Wagner handed a baggy of an unknown substance to Eric Shilling Jr., age unknown, of Lewistown, who was walking away. Officers stopped Shilling, who reported Wagner handed him a flashlight, police said, and officers retrieved a bag of methamphetamine from his person. Wagner and Shilling will be charged with possession of controlled substances, the report said.

Middle school student sending genitalia photos to other students

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint from staff at the Mifflin County School District that a male student at the Mifflin County Middle School in Lewistown was showing and sending photos of their genitalia to other students at 12:37 p.m. on May 12, according to a release on Thursday. Officers had contact with the juvenile’s parent who reviewed photos on the juvenile’s phone which included images of the juvenile’s genitalia. The phone was seized and the incident is being investigated by a detective.

Lewistown man charged with simple assault, harassment

LEWISTOWN — Javiel L. Hernandez, 25, of Lewistown, was charged with simple assault and harassment at 11:59 a.m. on May 13 after he admitted grabbing his ex-girlfriend and tackling her, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the Lewistown Hospital for an assault report, the release said, and officers spoke with a female in a neck brace who had a contusion near her eye. The female reported getting into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, identified as Hernandez, on May 11. The couple began arguing and Hernandez told the female he could “beat the s*** out of…” her, the report said, and the female responded and Hernandez pushed the female into a door frame, which she struck her head on then he tackled her onto the ground.

Dog owner cited for leash law violations, harboring dangerous dogs

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the 100 block of West Fourth Street in Lewistown for a report that two Pitbull dogs running loose killed a neighbor’s cat and kitten at 9:57 p.m. on May 13, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers identified the owners of the dogs who live on the 200 block of East Third Street, the report said, and the dogs were missing at the time the officers questioned the owner. Police said the owner was cited for two counts of leash law violations as well as two counts of harboring dangerous dogs.
