From Staff Reports
Stargazers might have found a sweet treat in the night skies on Saturday, with the “strawberry moon” of June 2023 getting ready to turn full. Next month will start the first in a string of four consecutive supermoons, which will also be shining brightly in the night sky. This photo was taken in Port Royal.
The “strawberry moon,” which will look like an ordinary full moon — not reddish, like the fruit — reached its fullest phase at 11:41 p.m. Saturday. The moon was also fully illuminated Sunday night.
The four supermoons (full moons that appear slightly bigger and brighter than average full moons because they are closer to the Earth), will be glowing on July 3, Aug. 1, Aug. 30 and Sept. 29, according to MoonGiant.com.
