Congratulations to Academy in its success To the Editor: To the community, I read with great interest Greg William’s recent article titled the “Academy releases statistics report.” The article describes the success the school has had placing students in co-op engagements, endorsing the fact many employers have chosen to hire the students they helped train. For years, I have spoken about the importance of Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology to our local economy. As MCIDC has interacted with local employers, we have told them the value of the Academy as our ...

What can we do when the government is losing our money To the Editor: I was going to Louie’s for a few laughs the other day, but I heard something on the news that put that plan aside for a while. It was a shock, not the kind of uncomprehending shock you might feel with an unexpected death in the family, but more like a vague earthquake, the sense that something had revealed a different view of the world. Humble yourself and turn to God To the Editor: Pride is excessive self esteem with an unreasonable self flattering opinion of one’s own superiority in self accomplishments or knowledge. It is many times accompanied by haughtiness which is having a high opinion of one’s self, with contempt for others. Becoming arrogant and conceited in dealing with others. Being proud or prideful breeds contention, brings destruction, and stirs up strife (Prov. 13:10, 16:18, 28:25). Pride causes people to turn away from God (Hos. 7:10). Having a “proud look” is listed as one of the things ...

Have unity with God the Father To the Editor: Those who are truly saved by God, for “salvation is of the LORD” (Jonah 2:9), have unity or oneness with God the Father and Jesus, His Son (Jn. 17:21-23). Those who are truly saved are one with all others who are one with God (Rom. 12:5) and are of one body nevasie a;l are in communion with Christ (1 Cor. 10:17). I find in John 10:16 that there is one fold and one shepherd, Jesus. In this fold, all are equal in Christ, for there is no distinction of race, gender, age, or nationality (Gal. 3:28; Eph. 2:14-16). All who are in Christ ...
