Gun law change increased shootings

To the editor, A recent letter to the Sentinel suggested there is a correlation between abortion (lack of respect for life) and mass murders in the United States. Seventy other countries including all of the world’s developed countries allow abortions on demand. None of them have the number of mass killings that occur in the United States. What would a week be like under Mastriano?

To the editor: In a previous letter to the editor I wrote of gubernatorial candidate and state Sen. Doug Mastriano’s version of Christianity and how he is using it in his campaign for governor. I would like to comment today on Sen. Mastriano’s plans for Pennsylvania if his is elected. Emotion versus common sense

To the editor: This is a reply to George Fisher’s letter in the July 15 issue of The Sentinel. Reading comprehension is difficult when you are influenced by a liberal media. Emotional replies to common sense are useless. Taxes should be sized to fit ability to pay

To the editor: Gov. Tom Wolf and the Republican-controlled legislature want to lower the State’s 9.99% corporate income tax rate. Should they do this? If yes, by how much should it be lowered? Anytime new legislation is being proposed, it should be to address a need or correct a problem. For example, are too many corporations leaving Pennsylvania only because the tax rate is too high or are there other reasons? If it is determined that a tax-rate reduction is needed, should the reduction be the same for all corporations, or should size, number of years in operation, locations, ...

To the editor: In response to the letter of Feb. 25. which began, “There comes a time when one should not ignore the socialist dribble coming from the mouths of diehard left wing rabble rousers. To the editor: There are currently over 1,200 small- and large-scale shipyards and shipbuilding industries in China. There is only one full-service shipyard left on our entire West Coast. Once the U.S. had a dozen aircraft builders; today it has exactly one manufacturer. Once a world’s leaders in commercial shipbuilding, today the US builds less than 10 vessels for oceangoing commerce in a year. China builds over 1,000 such ships each year.
