Rain, rain stay away from weekend dirt track action

Rain, rain stay away. That's my wish for this weekend.Port Royal Speedway presents the fifth annual Blue Collar Classic tonight at 5 p.m. as 305 sprint cars from several sanctioning bodies take center stage in a $1,400 to win A-main. More than 50 cars are preregistered.They will be joined by xtreme stock cars, limited late models and Mid Atlantic Modified cars. Jeff Miller of Huntingdon is the defending 305 race champion. Lincoln Speedway’s Dirt Classic is weekend highlight

Sprint car racing's month of money continues tonight at Lincoln Speedway.The third annual Dirt Classic will be run in conjunction with the Kasey Kahne Foundation. Racers from all over the country invade the Adams County oval in hope of claiming the $20,000 winner's share of the A-main. While the top prize is good, starting the event is worth $1,000.A unique qualifying procedure will be used that includes time trials and two sets of heat races. Nace Memorial at Selinsgrove tonight

Selinsgrove Speedway presents the 34th annual Jim Nace Memorial National Open for 410 sprint cars this evening. The event closes the first season of promotion under Steve Inch, Alan Kreitzer and Michael Heffner. The trio announced a restructured program that should be attractive to racers and fans. The main event has been shortened to 30 laps in an attempt to prevent the need for a fuel stop. The purse has been changed - the winner earns $8,000. It could be a great weekend for racing or we could be fighting the elements. Time will tell.I'm choosing the optimistic approach. Port Royal Speedway presents senior citizen and $1 hot dog night this evening. The 410 and 305 sprint cars are joined by super late models and xtreme stocks. The program serves as the final tune up before next Saturday night's Butch Renninger Memorial.
