Regional racers set to participate in World Finals

The World Finals conclude today at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The three-day program got underway Thursday night with qualifying for the World of Outlaws sprint cars and late models plus Dirtcar modifieds. Several area sprint car and late model competitors were expected to compete. Competitors will find a newly resurfaced speedway featuring red North Carolina clay taken from a nearby farm. Susquehanna’s Final Showdown wraps up the local racing season

Susquehanna Speedway closes the Central Pennsylvania racing season today with the Final Showdown racing program. The Newberrytown speedway features 410 and 358 sprint cars. The 410 sprint car feature winner receives $5,000. Racing is set to begin at 4 p.m. With the local season ending, the racing banquet circuit will soon be underway. Port Royal, Selinsgrove and Lincoln speedways host their awards banquets on Nov. 18. Tickets are available by contacting each speedway. Port Royal to wind up season

The 2017 racing season comes to a close today at Port Royal Speedway with Open Wheel Madness, three divisions of sprint cars (410, 360 and 305 racers) battling for bragging rights. The 360 portion of the show is sanctioned by the United Racing Club. The PASS/IMCA organization is in charge of 305 sprint car rules. Winning pay for the 410 sprint car winner is $4,000. The URC winner earns $2,000. The top 305 sprint car prize is $500. Engine starts are scheduled for 4 p.m. with racing to follow.
