Lions collide with Wyoming on Saturday
UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State wrestling team (3-0, 0-0 B1G) heads to Laramie, Wyo., for its first ever dual meet at Wyoming (2-2). The Nittany Lions and Cowboys tangle on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. local).
The Nittany Lions are coming off an unbeaten weekend, winning 43-3 at Drexel on Friday and 36-6 at home vs. Lehigh on Sunday. Penn State went 17-3 in the two dual meets to remain unblemished on the year as a team.
Penn State has ten wrestlers ranked by InterMat. Luke Lilledahl is 5-0 and ranked No. 2 at 125. Marcus Blaze is 7-0 and No. 10 at 133. Aaron Nagao is 4-1 and No. 7 at 141. Shayne Van Ness is 6-0 and No. 1 at 149. PJ Duke is 5-0 and No. 8 at 157. Mitchell Mesenbrink is 7-0 and No. 1 at 165. Levi Haines is 6-0 and No. 1 at 174. Rocco Welsh is 5-0 and No. 4 at 184. Connor Mirasola is 6-0 and No. 8 at 197. Cole Mirasola is 5-1 and No. 11 at 285.
A reminder that per NCAA rules, when two wrestlers from the same team meet in a tournament, the result is not official. It does not count as a win or a loss. Please see rule 9, section 6, article 4, found on page 79 of the official 2025-26 NCAA Wrestling rule book.
“Art. 4. Non-Allowable ISRF Matches. Matches between teammates, against opponents who are not listed on an institutional roster, a club-level wrestler, a prospective student-athlete or an armed services student-athlete shall not be counted.”
Wyoming last competed at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite last weekend. The Cowboys are 2-2 in dual meets. Wyoming beat Cal Baptist 28-12 on Nov. 22 in its last dual outing. The Cowboys feature seven ranked wrestlers. Luke Willochell is No. 22 at 133. Gabe Willochell is No. 30 at 149. Jared Hills is No. 23 at 157. Riley Davis is No. 28 at 174. Eddie Neitenbach is No. 12 at 184. Joey Novak is No. 4 at 197. Christian Carroll is No. 10 at 285. Penn State won the only other meeting between the two teams, a 54-0 victory last year on Dec. 15, 2024, in the Jordan Center.
The Nittany Lions will head to Nashville, Tenn., for the 2025 Collegiate Duals. Penn State will face two opponents on Saturday, Dec. 20. The Nittany Lions battle North Dakota State at 5 p.m. Eastern and Stanford at 7 p.m. Eastern.
