Former Lion Parsons making headlines with Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. – After trading for Dallas Cowboys’ star defensive end Micah Parsons on Aug. 28, the Green Bay Packers signed him to a four-year, $186 million extension through the 2029 season.

The contract pays Parsons an average salary of $46.5 million a year with $136 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

Now, that’s a lot of cheese.

Parsons’ new deal bumped that of Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ wide receiver Chris Godwin, who held the Penn State spotlight for a mere five months after signing a three-year, $66 million contract in March. The injured Godwin is expected to miss the first month of the NFL season.

Week one is in the books and it looks like the Packers will get their money’s worth as Parsons was credited with a sack – a loss of four yards – and a quarterback hurry in a 27-13 victory over the Detroit Lions.
