PSU track off to Outdoor Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State track and field team will wrap up outdoor postseason competition with the 2025 Division I NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships beginning on Wednesday, June 11-14. Five individual qualifiers and one relay team will represent the Nittany Lions in Eugene, Ore. as they will take on some of the best track & field athletes in the country for a national title.

The 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be broadcast through ESPN/ESPN2 with live streams of each individual event on ESPN+. All links for individual events can be found on the link above.

PENN STATE QUALIFIERS

Florence Caron earned a double qualification to this year’s outdoor championships for her performances in the women’s 5,000 and 10,000-meter races. Caron punched her first ticket in the 10K race after finishing in 32:44.94. Caron punched her second ticket after breaking the 5K school record for the second time this outdoor season after running 15:27.05 on the final day of the NCAA East Regional.

Maddie Ullom punched her first-career ticket to the NCAA Championships in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. Ullom started competing in the 3K steeplechase this outdoor season and ended the East Regional Preliminaries by improving her personal best to 9:54.42, moving her to the No. 3 mark in program history all-time.

Maddie Pitts will represent the Nittany Lions in the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships. Pitts compiled a season-best 5,677 points during the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, which ranked No. 7 in the East Region and No. 19 in the country after recording personal bests in the 200m, 800m, javelin throw and high jump.

The men’s 800-meter duo of Handal Roban and Allon Clay will compete for a national title. Clay won the Big Ten Outdoor 800-meter title in May at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships with a time of 1:47.93, while Roban earned a fourth-place finish in the preliminaries at 1:45.47.

The men’s 4×400-meter relay squad of Roban, James Onwuka, Max DeAngelo and Jake Palermo ran the fourth-fastest 4×400-meter time in Penn State history during the preliminaries with an eighth-place finish at 3:03.56. Matt DeMatteo and Josh Stolarski will also be in-play for the relay squad.
