The workshops are aimed at roadside spring users, private water system users, travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, professionals in the water industry and anyone interested in water resources.
Many people consider roadside springs as pristine sources of clean, great-tasting water, but their unregulated nature can pose hidden health risks, organizers noted. The workshop will explore findings from a statewide water quality monitoring project that examined popular roadside springs, revealing potential contaminants and water safety concerns.
The session will cover insights into microbial and chemical contamination in roadside springs; potential health risks of drinking untreated roadside spring water; and water treatment options for those who rely on roadside springs.
Penn State Extension offers this event free of charge. Organizers encourage prospective attendees to register before the time and date of the chosen event.
