Nittany Lions pummel Penn, 86-66

UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State Nittany Lions ended the 2024 part of their schedule with some second-half fireworks in what turned out to be a romp of visiting Penn at the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday.

Ace Baldwin scored 23 points and Yanic Konan Niederhauser added 19 points as Penn State put five players in double figures and routed Penn 86-66.

Konan Niederhauser scored 12 points in the first half, making 4 of 7 shots from the field, as the Nittany Lions (11-2) led 34-31 at the half. Baldwin hit 3 of 6 shots in the first 20 minutes to finish with 10 points.

Penn’s Michael Zanoni scored 15 of his game-high 27 points in the first half to keep the Quakers (4-9) within striking distance. Nick Spinoso added eight points.

The Nittany Lions found the hot hand in the second half as they outscored Penn 52-35. Baldwin dropped in 13 points and Freddie Dilione V added 11 points, making all five of his shots from the floor, as Penn State pulled away for the victory.

Nick Kern ended up with 13 points for the Nittany Lions, while Puff Johnson added 11 points.

Penn State outrebounded the Quakers by a 41-29 margin, with Konan Niederhauser pulling down 15 boards. Baldwin added four rebounds to go with 10 assists. He was also a perfect 12 of 12 from the line.

The Nittany Lions shot 52.9 percent in the second half and 45.5 percent for the game. Penn shot 38.6 percent.
