AKRON, OH. – The Akron RubberDucks completed a miraculous rally to earn a 7-6 win over the Curve on Wednesday night at 7 17 Credit Union Park in Akron. Altoona held a 4-1 lead with two outs and the bases empty in the ninth inning before the ‘Ducks managed to start their comeback. UNIVERSITY PARK – On Wednesday afternoon, seven Nittany Lions were named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Academic Honor Roll with the team being named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad. Junior Lily Strohecker, seniors Emily Bette, Erika Ho, Lauren Tinson and Payton Wainman along with graduate students Julia Basciano and Anna Salerno were all named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. The team went 1-3 at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals and finished in a tie for seventh. This year’s team scored 23 runs. Last year Mifflin County as 13-year-olds were 0-4 and scored only five runs. WILLIAMSPORT– Justin Journette capped a three-homer sixth inning for the State College Spikes with the longest of them all, a 467-foot, two-run shot that was the longest ever hit in MLB Draft League play, as the Spikes defeated the Williamsport Crosscutters, 8-5, on Tuesday night at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.
