LEWISTOWN -- With the upcoming Babe Ruth World Series, here are some thoughts and trivia concerning the upcoming World Series.
The trip to Branson, Missouri is 1,061 miles (from Lewistown). That will rank fifth on the longest road trips Mifflin County has taken. The two longest trips were to Longview, Washington, 2,714 miles. Mifflin County made the trip twice in 2004 and 2018. The other two trips before Branson were in 2021 to Eagle Pass, Texas (1,805 miles) and Williston, North Dakota in 2022 (1,623 miles).

Mifflin County’s record in Williamsport is now 56-40. Mifflin County has won two state titles there, 2007, 13-year-olds and 2018, 15-year-olds and then just recently the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Regionals. Williamsport is in third place for Mifflin County victories behind MIlroy (279) and Gettysburg (89).

Going to Branson, Missouri will mark the 81st different site that Mifflin County has played at since 1955, the start of the league.

This will mark the 11th different state Mifflin County has played in including Pennsylvania.
The other states are New York, New Jersey, Washington, Iowa, Maryland, Texas, Indiana, North Dakota and Delaware.

This World Series will have teams from around the world in it. Mifflin County has only played one game from a team that wasn't in the United States. That occurred in 2004 in Longview, Washington. Mifflin County edged Alberta, Canada. 8-7. Mifflin County won on a wild pitch as the Alberta pitcher was trying to walk a batter intentionally.

The team that Mifflin County has played the farthest from Lewistown was Pearl City, Hawaii, in 2016, 5,161 miles. Mifflin County played them in the 13-year-old
2016 national title game in Ottumwa, Iowa and won the national championship with a 5-3 win.
