Huskies drop Colts, 4-1

CAMP HILL — Mifflin County beat Cedar Cliff on Tuesday in tennis action, 4-1.

In singles play, Husky Logan Breneman defeated Mason Cordardo, 6-2, 6-1. Mason Kaniecki topped Colt Rojan Tiwari, 6-0, 6-1. Colt Adam Hintze beat Aiden Newlen, 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles action, Huskies Reese Hine and Luke Foltz defeated Drake Dietterick and Rio Gonzalez, 6-1, 6-1. Huskies Max Persing and Morgan Crader beat Lincoln Govelovich and Dylan Candioto, 6-1, 6-3.

Huskies battle Little Lions

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County track and field hosted State College on their home track on Tuesday for Senior Night. Both boys and girls programs fell to the Little Lions.

Boys

Mifflin County 64, State College 85

Although the Huskies boys team lost to the Little Lions, they were able to pick up seven first-place finishes. The 4×800 (Wyatt Kauffman, Reese Cubbison, Aidan Scavitti, Connor Lynch, 8:50.18) and 4×400 (Trevan Diven, Camryn Treaster, Connor Lynch, Wyatt Kauffman, 3:36.59) both took the win. Hoyt Rodenbaugh (1600, 4:30.58), Reece Bell (Javelin, 166′ 2″), Luke Bender (High Jump, 5′ 2″), Trevan Diven (400, 52.15), Wyatt Kauffman (800, 1:57.07), and Reese Cubbison (3200, 10:48.43) each scored first in their events.

The Mifflin County girls team worked hard to earn points from the strong Little Lions team. Annie Hartzler earned the only first-place finish for the girls in long jump with a best of 15′ 6″.

Indians visit Blackhawks

DUNCANNON — Juniata track and field opened its season at Susquenita on Monday.

On the girls side, Juniata’s top scorers on the track were Selena Mayall-Marker as she placed third in the 200 by running a time of 31.22 and third in the 400, running a time of 1:13.27.

Sylvia Brubaker placed second in the 800, running a time of 2:45.24 and Carolyn Heidenreich placed first in the 1600, running a time of 6:09.54.

In the field the top scorers were Madison Copeland as she placed third in the high jump with a jump of 4′ 2″.

Sylvia Brubaker placed second in the long jump with a jump of 15′ 2″ and third in the triple jump with a jump of 31′ 2″.

Non-scorers with personal best were: Miley Hack in high jump with a jump of 4′ 2″ and triple jump with a jump of 27′ 8 1/4″. Camryn Burd in long jump with a jump of 13′ 11 1/4″ and triple jump with a jump of 28′ 8 1/4″

The Juniata girls lost to Susquenita, 15-125.

Juniata head coach Shari Miller said, “We had some girls that had a good day. Sylvia had a good debut in long and triple jump. The girls 4×800 didn’t win, but they all ran well. The 4×800 team included Ella Zimmerman, Olivia Mummah, Camryn Burd, and Aubryn Deihl. I am proud of the effort that they put into the race.”

On the boys side, Juniata’s top scores on the track were:

Anthony Maradiaga placed 3rd in the 100, running a time of 12.15.

Zeran Clark placed 3rd in the 400, running a time of 1:02.08.

Josiah Barner placed 2nd in the 1600, running a time of 4:44.37 for a personal best time.

David Mayall-Marker placed 1st in the 3200, running a time of 11:25.33 for a personal best time. David also ran a personal best time in the 1600 with a time of 5:07.

Joel Hardin placed 2nd in the 3200, running a time of 11:50.79 for a personal best time. Joel ran a personal best time in the 1600, running a 5:12.33.

Jasper Shepps placed 1st in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14:58, breaking his own school record by .17 seconds. Jasper also placed 1st in the 300 hurdles with a time of 39.26 for a personal best time and only .05 seconds off the school record.

4×400 relay team placed 1st running a time of 3:39.50, which included Jasper Shepps, Jackson Shellenberger, Alex Armstrong, and Josiah Barner.

In the field the top scorers were:

Jasper Shepps placed first in the high jump with a jump of 6′ 6 1/2″, breaking the school record.

Arthur Hazard placed second in the high jump with a jump of 5′ 4″ for a personal best, second in the long jump with a jump of 18′ 3 3/4″ for a personal best, and second in triple jump with a jump of 38′ 8 1/4″.

Alex Armstrong placed third in the high jump with a jump of 5′, 1st in the long jump with a jump of 19′ 2 1/2″, and 1st in the triple jump with a jump of 38′ 9 1/4″.

Anthony Maradiaga placed 1st in the pole vault with a jump of 12′ 3″.

Ethan Whitesel placed 3rd in the triple jump with a jump of 35′ 10 1/2″ for a huge personal best jump.

Sammy Spriggle placed 1st in the shot put, throwing 37′ 3 1/2″ with a personal best and 1st in the jav throwing 126′ 5″.

Non-scorers with personal best were:

Zeran Clark in the 200 with a time of 26.55.

John Randolph in the 800 with a time of 2:34.16 and the 1600 with a time of 5:43.86.

Jadon Nealman in the long jump with a jump of 16′ 2 1/4″.

Cale Fike in shot put with a throw of 27′ 8 1/4″ and Discus with a throw of 71′ 2″.

The Juniata boys lost to Susquenita 69-76.

“The boys had a lot of good performances today that included a lot of personal bests and school records. Jasper broke the school record in the 110 hurdles and high jump. Newcomer Alex Armstrong had a great day, placing in two field events and was a member of the winning 4 x 400 relay team. Arthur Hazard had two personal bests in jumps. I am pleased with how the boys performed today,” said Miller.

The next meet for the Indians will be on Wednesday at home.
