LEWISTOWN — On Tuesday at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium, Mifflin County boys lacrosse faced Cumberland Valley. The Huskies put up a good fight, but it still wasn’t enough to beat the visitors. The Eagles would take the 18-1 victory as Easton Zook scored the lone goal for the home squad.
The Huskies are 2-4 on the season right now and will play Central Dauphin on Thursday. The game kicks off at 4 p.m.
“When you lose a game, you look at and celebrate the small victories,” Huskies coach Brett Rogers said. “Cumberland Valley is a top 25 team in the state right now and they played a good game. Our boys tried their best and gave it their all. I’m proud of what they accomplished today. They kept their heads straight the whole game and kept the penalties to a minimum. I can’t point at all the places they need improvement, but I can say that every game needs improvement, and they don’t fail to do that. They did, however, put pressure on the opposing team and communicated strongly the entire time.
Cumberland Valley continues to dominate the lacrosse season as they are 7-0 and will play State College on Thursday; the game kicks off at 5:45.
Gabe Getz, Trey Smith, and Jake Knable were all very successful on the defensive side. They showed skill and talent and kept Cumberland Valley from scoring more points. Other members of the team like Dodger Weaver and Jamieson Parkes also did a strong job on defense, but served crucial time in the penalty box by letting Cumberland Valley score on them.
