Millionaires dodge Huskies, 9-8

WILLIAMSPORT — Mifflin County dropped its second game of the softball season with a hard-fought 9-8 loss against Williamsport on Friday in nine innings of play.

The Millionaires scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

The Huskies possessed an 8-7 lead entering the seventh, but the Millionaires answered with a run of their own, making it 8-8.

For the Huskies, Piper Specht went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Carly Dickson and Ava Baker each recorded one ribbie with two hits apiece.

Bailey Wyland added two hits of her own and Malaina Maxwell tacked on one RBI.

Mifflin County (0-2) had 10 hits and three errors. Williamsport posted 10 hits and four errors.

The Lady Huskies scored six times in the fourth inning and the Millionaires (1-0) tallied five runs in the fourth.

Next, the Huskies host Altoona on Tuesday to conclude their March slate. Then, on Thursday, they meet Chambersburg.

Mustangs rout Braves, 11-0

MIDDLEBURG — Midd-West softball dropped Shikellamy on Friday, 11-0.

For the Mustangs, Katie Zimmerman, Cali Sauer, Kady Wagner and Emma Wagner each recorded two RBIs.

Olivia Dorman had three hits and one ribbie.

Briahna Keister, Zimmerman, Sauer and Kady Wagner had two hits apiece.

Dorman and Keister each had four stolen bases.

In the circle, pitcher Kylie Mitch tossed six innings, allowed six hits, zero runs, no walks and struck out four Braves.

The Mustangs (2-1) visit Central Columbia on Tuesday.
