LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County boys tennis team welcomed Juniata to Highland Park on Thursday. The Huskies (1-2) came up just short against the Indians, 3-2.
In doubles action, Dayton Miller and Isaiah May beat Huskies Max Persing and Max Yoder, 6-3, 7-6, (7-3). And Kole Boop along with teammate Josh Martin topped Huskies Nei Massing and Quinn Parson, 6-1, 6-2, leading to an Indians’ sweep of doubles play.
In singles action, Husky Logan Breneman defeated Sylvi Gaisior, 6-0, 6-0. Mason Kaniecki beat Juniata’s Asher Wriglesworth, 6-0, 6-1.
Thea Beward dropped Husky Luke Foltz, 7-5, 6-4.
Huskies coach Jeff Mazurek stated, “A lot of new guys are stepping into new spots, having new and younger players fill in and learn new skills. Places we can get better in are identifying places that need improvement, and our placement.”
Logan Aurand, the coach for Juniata commented, “Being able to win against a Triple-A school as a Double-A school sets us up for district seating. One way of getting better is having a winner’s mindset, not getting down when things aren’t going our way.”
Mifflin County’s next home game will be on April 1 against Lower Dauphin. Their next game is today at CD East.
Juniata travels to play Hughesville today.
