Husky boys dominate CD East laxers
HARRISBURG — Five Mifflin County Huskies scored goals and Husky netminder Jamieson Parkes registered six saves in a 12-2 victory over Central Dauphin East on Saturday in Harrisburg.
Dodge Weaver led Mifflin County with five goals and two assists, while Gabe Getz had three goals and two assists and Trey Smith added two goals and two assists. Rounding out the scoring for the Huskies were Raul Rodriguez with a goal and two assists and Dakota Gibbons with a goal.
“The offense and defense worked great together in transitions, opening up a lot of the scoring opportunities,” Mifflin County head coach Brett Rogers said.
The Huskies’ Jake Knable won 10 faceoffs, while Kane Pecht, Kole Strawser and Alonso Torres combined to force 12 turnovers.
Mifflin County hosts Mechanicsburg on Thursday.

State College
dominates MC
STATE COLLEGE — Madison Keefer scored the lone goal for Mifflin County and goalie Joshlyn Tate made 12 saves in an 18-1 loss at State College on Saturday. Keefer had a total of three shots on goal.
Huskies head coach Rob Nulton said, “I just ask my team to give me 1% more each practice and each game. Today, they gave me 10% more than what I originally asked for. State College is a really good team and my team worked hard today and I couldn’t be prouder of their efforts to go head to head with such a tough and well experienced team.”

Huskies shine at
Chambersburg
CHAMBERSBURG — Mifflin County traveled to Chambersburg on Saturday to compete in the Tim Cook Invitational and came home with a bus full of impressive finishes.
The 4×800 team of Hoyt Rodenbaugh, Camryn Treaster, Koy Aurand and Aiden Scavitti started the meet with a third-place finish for the Huskies in 8:25.94. Taylor Kenepp continues to lead the sprints with a second-place finish in the 200 (27.03) and a fourth place in the 400 (1:00.20).
A couple of 300-meter hurdlers ran their best times, with Landon Yetter in 39.68 and Abigail Riden in 53.92. Also on the track, Amilia Coffey placed seventh in the 3200 (12:27.28) and Trevan Diven took fourth in the 400 (52.69). In the field, Reece Bell threw the javelin 157-6, earning a third-place finish. Annie Hartzler jumped a personal best height of 4-8 in high jump and Kendall Cavanaugh threw the discus a season best distance of 86-8. “Overall, the Husky track athletes performed well and are on track to achieve their personal goals,” Husky head coach Tamara Sechler said.
Mifflin County hosts Altoona on Tuesday.

New junior high team
splits baseball opener
LEWISTOWN — The new Mifflin County Junior High Baseball team took the field for the first time last week, playing Tyrone. The eighth-grade Huskies lost 9-3, while the seventh-grade Huskies won 6-3. The baseball team is coached by John Pannizzo, Keith Baker, Bryce Dobson and Owen Mock.
