Defenders corral Mustangs

MIDDLEBURG — Warrior Run toppled Midd-West on Thursday during baseball action, 8-2.

For the Mustangs, shortstop Kyle Shupp posted two hits and second baseman Max Trawitz added two RBIs. Braxton Smith, Midd-West’s third baseman, added two hits.

Pitcher Noah Wert tossed three and two-thirds innings, allowed one earned run (four total), walked five batters and allowed two knocks.

For the Defenders, Landon Tillson tallied two hits and one ribbie. Jackson Bowers added three RBIs and Colton Ritenour had two RBIs.

On the mound, James Keifer pitched five and two-thirds, allowed seven hits, three walks and two runs with six strikeouts.

BOYS LACROSSE

Huskies pummel Colts

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County boys lacrosse earned their first victory of the season on Thursday as they drubbed Cedar Cliff, 9-4.

The Huskies move to 1-2 on the season.

This marks Mifflin County’s first win since April 29 of last season when they defeated Cedar Cliff, 11-7.

Next, the Huskies battle Central Dauphin East on Saturday at 10 a.m.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Colts tame Huskies

CAMP HILL — Mifflin County girls varsity lacrosse traveled to Cedar Cliff on Thursday and fell 20-0.

Issabella Snyder, Madison Keefer, and Carson Moore-Aldrich led the team with shots on goal. Sophie and Joshlyn Tate helped the team with numerous saves.

The Huskies’ next game takes place at State College on Saturday, at 12:30 p.m. MC is now 0-4.

Huskies sweep Cougars

The Mifflin County Junior High volleyball team traveled to take on Harrisburg for their first road game of the season and swept the Cougars.

The seventh grade club started the night off with a commanding 25-13 win in set one and fought hard to come from behind to win the second 26-24. Ava Moyer led the Huskies with three aces, two kills and two assists. Jazzelle Williams also added three assists.

Another strong defensive effort from the eighth grade Huskies group helped secure a two-set win, with scores of 25-14 and 25-16. Addyson Marks and Grayce Napikoski each tallied six digs, while Geneva Kelly added four. Sarah Hartsock added three digs to go along with her fifteen assists. Grayce led the offense with ten kills, with Mackenzie Resto and Kendal Martin each adding three. Mackenzie and Grayce also added four aces each.

The Huskies are back home on Monday as they host Millersburg.
