HUNTINGDON – The Juniata College women’s basketball team fell to Wilkes, 73-61, in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium.

Senior guard Bri Bodtorf scored her 1000th career point in the third quarter.

Wilkes used a strong third quarter to pull away, outscoring Juniata 24-17 coming out of halftime after the teams entered the break separated by just two points. Despite multiple pushes by the Eagles, Wilkes maintained control down the stretch to earn the road win.

Juniata was paced by Laney Gerdich, who finished with a team-high 17 points and added six rebounds while going 9-for-12 at the free throw line. Olivia Berg followed with 14 points, knocking down two three-pointers and adding two steals, while Bodtorf recorded a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.

The Eagles battled on the glass early, with Emma Coolidge pulling down nine rebounds to go along with five offensive boards. Juniata also generated eight steals on the defensive end but struggled to convert consistently from the field, shooting 33.3 percent overall.

Wilkes was led by Maliyah Warren, who scored a game-high 26 points, and Anya Richet, who posted a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Juniata cut the deficit to single digits multiple times in the fourth quarter, but Wilkes answered each surge with timely baskets and free throws to seal the outcome.

The Eagles move to 4-17 overall and 2-12 in Landmark Conference play. Juniata returns to action at home Wednesday against Elizabethtown at 7:30pm.
