Huskies rally to beat Seals

SELINSGROVE — Mifflin County boys basketball snapped a five-game losing streak as they knocked off Selinsgrove on the road, 59-54, Thursday night.

The Huskies trailed by nine points entering the fourth quarter, but used a strong stanza on both ends to get the win.

Four Huskies eclipsed double figures in the win. Junior Jack Curry led the way with 13 points, all coming in the second half. Zach Keller and Luke Bender were stellar as they added 12 apiece, and Lucas Hartung shined on both sides of the ball with 10 points coupled with strong defense.

Junior Zach Keller was the Dawg of the Game, as he helped lead the charge defensively in the comeback win.

With the win, the Huskies move to 7-10 on the year, and hit the road again today when they battle Lower Dauphin. JV’s tip is at 5:30 with varsity to follow.

The JV Huskies also got the win, defeating the Seals 58-44.

Sophomore Dylan Bonson led the way with 20 points, with junior Carson Cherry adding 15.

Blackhawks down Indians, 70-60

DUNCANNON — On Thursday evening, Susquenita boys hoops topped Juniata, 70-60.

Ryan Schoppy had 28 points for the home squad and Jacob Vega tallied 18. Christian Boyer had 14 in the TVL victory.

For the Indians, Jasper Shepps recorded 26 points and hit two threes. Quentin Houtz added 13 points. Drew Geedey corralled eight and Ricky Guante added seven points.

Next, Juniata plays Belleville Christian in a girls and boys basketball doubleheader today. Juniata boys play at 7 p.m., the girls play at 5 p.m. Games will be held at Juniata H.S.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norry mauls EJ, 36-25

COCOLAMUS — Julia Lamey scored 12 points as Norry Christian beat East Juniata in girls hoops on Thursday, 36-25.

Emma Conner added 11 points for Norry and Hannah Millett tacked on 10.

For the Lady Tigers, Landyn Cramer posted 15 points and Madison Snyder added eight points.

Next, EJ hosts Greenwood today at 6:30 p.m.

Bulldogs swat Mustangs, 44-23

MIDDLEBURG — Jersey Shore went on the road and earned a 44-23 victory over Midd-West on Thursday.

For Shore, Ma-lee Lehmar had 13 points and Leena Loomis added nine points. Amey DePasque chimed in with eight.

For the Mustangs, Izzy Walter had 10 points and Julia Boop collected five points.

Midd-West hosts Danville on Saturday.

Susquenita trips up Juniata, 49-43

MIFFLINTOWN — Susquenita made five three-pointers and went on to beat Juniata in girls hoops on Thursday night, 49-43.

For the Hawks, Braelyn Prinz had 14 points and Kaydon Brandt added 13. Claire Wechsler tacked on seven points.

For the Indians, center Mylee Landis posted 16 points and Lindsea Gilson added nine points. Sara Montoya tallied six points and Maura Campagna added five points.
