McClure’s Wright makes Ship Hall of Fame

SHIPPENSBURG – Shippensburg University will be inducting seven former student-athletes into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 24.
The 40th annual induction ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Tuscarora Room located inside Reisner Dining Hall.
The event is being held as a luncheon and each inductee will be given an opportunity to provide a short speech.

Ray Ellis ’53 (Cape May, N.J./Middle Township) was an integral member of the glory days of Shippensburg Football in the 1950s under legendary coach Vinton Rambo, serving as a team captain as a senior. The Raiders went 27-4-1 during his career, including undefeated records in 1952 and 1953.
Keri Hopkins Gehring ’02 (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) is one of only two players in SU history to earn Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America honors in all four of her seasons, and one of just 12 players in school history to earn three or more All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) classifications.
Mark Murphy ’07 (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) forged his legacy as one of the most accomplished wrestlers in SU history. Competing from 2004 to 2007, Murphy became just the third Raider to earn NCAA Division II All-America honors three times and one of only two in program history to qualify for the national championships in all four seasons.
Amanda Raudabaugh Geier ’12/’15M (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) is the premier 800-meter runner in SU women’s track & field history – a five-time NCAA National Championships qualifier and three-time All-American who holds the all-time PSAC indoor record (2:09.39) and the outdoor school record (2:07.62).
Katrina Spratford-Sterling ’13 (Califon, N.J./Voorhees (Richmond)) is one of SU’s most prestigious distance runners, having attained eight All-America awards: three in cross country (2010, 2011 and 2012), three indoors (5K in 2012 and 2013, DMR in 2012) and two outdoors (10K in 2012 and 2013).
Briana “Bre” White Schwartz ’14 (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of PSAC Field Hockey. She is one of only two players in school history to graduate as a four-time All-American – earning National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) First Team honors all four seasons.
Matt Wright ’10 (McClure, Pa./Midd-West) an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American, is one of the most dominant pitchers in PSAC history. His 333 career strikeouts – achieved in just three seasons – remains the league’s all-time record. As a junior, Wright’s 151 strikeouts shattered the SU single-season record and set a new conference record.
