Gobrecht Memorial win is special for Dietrich

NEWBERRYTOWN — Danny Dietrich dominated the Kevin Gobrecht Memorial for the sprint cars Saturday night at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Dietrich, of Gettysburg, led all 30 laps, winning by 5.7 seconds. He earned $10,000 for his fourth BAPS win of the season, 25th of his career there and 12th win of the 2025 season in the Gary Kauffman No. 48.

“This race is very special,” Dietrich said. “(Kevin) was one of my heroes growing up. We’re thinking about a lot of families. It’s been a bad couple of weeks. It’s nice to come here and get away from reality for a little bit.”

“I was trying to set a good pace but not get the tires too hot and keep them underneath me,” Dietrich said. “I would run the bottom or the top in three and four and I was committed to the top in one and two.”

Dietrich started second with Williams Grove winner Freddie Rahmer on the pole. Dietrich shot into the lead and never looked back as Rahmer settled into second and Brock Zearfoss third.

The leaders started lapping slower cars, but that did little to slow Dietrich down as his lead was over 2-seconds and increasing.

Zearfoss passed Rahmer for second during the final half of the feature. Cameron Smith also passed Rahmer, but he passed him back.

Dietrich cruised to the win over Zearfoss, Rahmer, Smith and Troy Wagaman Jr. Dylan Norris, Daryn Pittman, Bill Dietrich, Justin Whittall and Kyle Moody rounded out the top 10.

Rahmer was overall quick time with a lap of 14.315 earning an extra $500. Bill and Danny Dietrich, and Gerard McIntyre Jr. won the heat races each earning $200. Brandon Rahmer won the B-main.
