LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County volleyball fell in three sets to undefeated Palmyra during a Mid-Penn matchup, 25-21, 25-16, 25-13, on Wednesday night.
Mifflin County (0-3), despite losing in three straight sets to the Cougars (3-0) had some positives throughout the lineup. Kate Hartzler tallied eight kills and Jamilee Gilbert corralled four aces for the Huskies. Emily Porch added 14 digs and Emmaleigh Harmon posted five digs.
“We had our highs and lows. Volleyball is a game of highs and lows. We’re up and our energy is up. We’re scoring points when things start to go bad, our energy drops, our communication starts to drop and I think our players saw that today. I’m hoping they can take that from today’s game moving forward into our next game and work really hard to keep that energy level up too,” Huskies coach Danielle Napikoski said.
Mifflin County battled and made it close at times in the three sets. In the second set both teams saw a battle for points in a match where the Lady Cougars led 18-15. Palmyra ended up earning a point and Maryn Russell would be credited with a final point.
Mifflin County will be back home on Monday against Red Land, hoping to pick up their first win of the season. Then on Tuesday, the Lady Huskies visit Lower Dauphin.
JV Huskies beat Palmyra, 8-25, 25-22, 16-14. Jovi Bush had five kills, Emma Hartzler and Lily Curry each added three. Lily Curry added four aces, Adyen Long tacked on three.
Long chalked up six digs. Jayda Thomas and Lily Curry also had six digs apiece.
