Cook, MC edged by State College
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County Husky goalkeeper Liberty Cook kept State College at bay, turning aside shot after shot.
The Little Lions’ Leah Sampsel snuck one past Cook at the 43:13 mark of the second half, which proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Mifflin County in Mid Penn Conference crossover action on Saturday.
“Libby has kept us in a lot of games this season,” Huskies head coach Barrett Knepp said. “When we go on the attack, we need to get some more numbers forward; we are just laying back a little too deep.”
Mifflin County was outshot 20-2 and trailed in corner kicks 2-0 in the contest.
Cook finished with 19 saves, while State College’s Katy Schmeck had two. Mifflin County’s JVs won 2-0, thanks to two goals by Lizzy Plank.
The Huskies play at Shippensburg on Tuesday.

Landis nets four
in Millersburg rout
MIFFLINTOWN – Mylee Landis was a one-person wrecking crew for Juniata in a 5-1 Tri-Valley League victory over Millersburg.
Landis scored an unassisted goal at the 28-minute mark to give Juniata’s first goal of the first half. Thea Beward then set up Landis with 24 minutes to play for Juniata’s second tally. At the 20-minute mark, Landis struck again with an unassisted tally make it a 3-1 game for Juniata. Taylin Engle accounted for Millersburg’s only goal.
In the second half, Juniata continued to control play as Landis scored again with an unassisted goal at the 22-minute mark. About a minute later, Sara Montoya capped the scored with an unassisted goal to set the 5-1 final.
Juniata travels to Susquenita on Wednesday.
Juniata outshot Millersburg 11-6 but trailed in corners 6-5. Goalie Yaa Serwaa made five saves for Juniata.

Sugar Valley
MIFFLINTOWN – Hannah Graybill racked up 14 service points to go with eight kills and eight aces and Miley Hack added 11 service points, six digs and four aces as Juniata rolled to a 3-0 victory over Sugar Valley Rural Charter. The scores were 25-10, 25-11 and 25-20.
Maddie Copeland also had 16 assists, while Hope Kehler added five service points and three aces and Grace Reinhold had six service points.
Juniata visits Upper Dauphin today.
EJ spikers fall
To F-M in four
WILLOW HILL – East Juniata fell to host Fannett-Metal in four sets by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 23-25 and 18-25. East Juniata’s Libby Hoffman racked up 15 kills, while Kennedy Seigler-Lewis added 17 digs and 17 assists.
East Juniata’s Addison Dimm made 15 digs, Emily Goodling had 10 digs and Maddie Snyder added 11 service points.
East Juniata hosts St. Joe’s today.
