MC 13s drop two in Jersey

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — The Mifflin County Babe Ruth 13-year-olds are faced with an uphill battle to make single elimination play on Friday. Mifflin County dropped two games on Tuesday with a 10-2 loss to Old Bridge and a 7-1 defeat to Southern New Jersey.
SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY 7, MIFFLIN COUNTY 1
OLD BRIDGE, NJ — Mifflin County could only come up with two hits and one run in its loss to Cherry Hill (Southern NJ).
“We just haven’t hit up here or for that matter in the whole tournament,” said Bill Corbin, the Mifflin County manager. “I thought Brody (Keefer) pitched well for a while today. We need hits. We haven’t had any extra-base hits.”
Levi Sharp had a lead-off single in the first inning and Cohen Ritchey also had a base hit in the seventh.
Mifflin County scored its only run in the fourth. Sharp reached first on an error and scored on a Cherry Hill throwing miscue.
Cherry Hill scored five times in the third and twice in the fifth. Mifflin County committed one error and turned a double play in the fifth.
Crue Kochenderfer threw two scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth.
OLD BRIDGE 10, MIFFLIN COUNTY 1
OLD BRIDGE — Mifflin County scored two runs and had seven hits, but it wasn’t nearly enough as Old Bridge beat Mifflin County, 10-1.
Mifflin County scored a run in the first inning. Cam Klwalczik doubled and scored on an RBI single from Cohen Ritchey.
The local All-Stars also scored a run in the seventh. Ben Link reached on an error. Levi Sharp also got to first on an Old Bridge miscue. Klwalczik moved the runners up with his second hit of the day. Zyaire Tshudy then knocked home Link.
Also getting hits for Mifflin County were Sharp, Luke Hale and Bronn Zook.
The game was a milestone for Mifflin County manager Bill Corbin. It was his 1,400th game that he has coached in, a Pennsylvania Babe Ruth record.
