Sheetz’s hat trick carries Huskies

LEWISBURG — Hailee Sheetz carried Mifflin County to a 3-2 victory over Lewisburg in non-league field hockey action Tuesday afternoon.

All three goals were scored by Sheetz, giving her the hat trick. Keeper Sophie McCurdy had nine saves.

Mifflin County travels to face Cedar Cliff on Thursday afternoon.

East Juniata 0

COCOLAMUS — Laney Teagan and Terri Reichard powered Line Mountain past East Juniata to an 8-0 victory on Tuesday during a Tri-Valley League field hockey game.

Reichard led with a hat trick and Teagan scored another two goals.

East Juniata hosts Southern Columbia on Thursday.

Girls soccer

Northumberland Christian 6, Juniata Christian 3

NORTHUMBERLAND — Juniata Christian got goals from three different players, but it wasn’t enough. Juniata Christian fell to rival Northumberland Christian 6-3 in an Allegheny Christian Athletic Association girls soccer game on Tuesday.

Erin Sheaffer, Peyton Burd and Annika Martin each scored a goal in the game. Emily Garwin led the Warriors with four goals.

Juniata Christian (6-3, 5-2) travels to Meadowbrook Christian on Monday.

East Juniata 1, Millersburg 1

MILLERSBURG – East Juniata and Millersburg tied 1-1 in a Tri-Valley League girls soccer game Tuesday.

The lone goal for the Tigers was scored in the first half of the game. Cypress Feltman was the one who scored the goal.

East Juniata travels to Halifax today.

Boys soccer

Midd-West 4, Danville 0

DANVILLE – Nicholas Eppley scored half of the team’s total goals as Midd-West defeated Danville 4-0 in a PHAC boys soccer game Tuesday.

Eppley scored two goals in the game while the other one was scored by Nolan Stahl who was assisted by Easton Erb. The fourth and final goal of the game was an own goal by Danville.

Midd-West (9-0, 4-0) travels to Williamsport on Thursday.

MIFFLINTOWN – Goals from two different players was enough to pull out a slim 2-1 win for Juniata against Susquenita in a Tri-Valley League boys soccer game on Tuesday.

Bryce Rush scored his goal in the first half with some help from Will Saner. Henry Rivas then scored the game winner in the second half with just over four minutes left to play.

Juniata travels to Greenwood on Thursday.

COCOLAMUS — Neither team was willing to give up leading to a 2-2 tie between the East Juniata Tigers and the Halifax Wildcats in Tri-Valley League boys soccer action Tuesday.

East Juniata travels to Millersburg on Thursday.

Cross country

MECHANICSBURG — Kylee Cubbison led Mifflin County on the girls side of the meet placing first not only on the team, but overall as well. The senior finished with an overall time of 19:49.

The second highest finisher for the Huskies was sophomore Addie Parson who placed third with the time of 21:29. Junior Justice Sheaffer was third for Mifflin County with an overall finish of 14th at 24:49.

For the boys, Mifflin County fell to both Carlisle and Cumberland Valley. Chris Royer was the top runner for the Huskies finishing sixth overall. Ben Hartzler placed tenth and right behind him was CJ Coffey in 11th.

Mifflin County hosts Altoona on Tuesday.

Junior High Field hockey

Mifflin County 5, Susquehanna 0

LEWISTOWN – The Huskies defeated Susquehanna 5-0 in junior high field hockey action Tuesday. Addie Fultz led the way with two goals while Jensyn Taylor, Brynn Rowe and Aubree Dobson each added a goal as well.

Jayda Kanagy had two assists and Hayleigh Fultz had a assist.

Monday’s game

Mifflin County 6, Middletown 0

LEWISTOWN — Addie Fultz recorded a hat trick and Jayda Kanagy scored twice as Mifflin County defeated Middletown, 6-0, in a junior high field hockey contest on Monday.

Anniston Byler scored, while Sophie Albert recorded an assist. Paige Snyder had a save for Mifflin County.
